    Unknown - Inv. 299 and 300 Joa

Typical ornaments from 18th-century Portuguese jewellery, bows are famous for the variety of their models and their technical quality. In the older examples, the bow still represented its textile equivalent in a literal way, but, throughout the 18th century and into the following century as well, its design gradually began to acquire movement, being surrounded by scrolls and foliage in an ever more complex structure.

Diamonds, which were replaced in the more popular versions by coloured glass, not only enrich these pieces, but also provide points for the reflection of light amidst the brilliant shine of the gold.
