IN GOOD MEMORY
Portrait, Humanity and Future
Edifício dos Leões in dialogue
with the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga

In 2019, Banco Santander assigned a cultural purpose to its headquarters in Portugal, the iconic Lions Building, considered a reference in the history of Portuguese architecture. With the mission of disclosing and promoting the Bank’s important heritage legacy, which can be seen at this cultural venue, we fulfil the prime goal of preserving the historical memory of our institution.
With this exhibition entitled “In Good Memory,” devoted to Portraits, we opened a partnership cycle with the prestigious National Museum of Ancient Art, under which, based on common themes to the art collections of both institutions, we create an artistic dialogue, where current issues such as the search for identity or keeping an individual’s memory alive, are showcased both in classic and more contemporary works exhibited here. We highlight the participation of renowned Portuguese artista Pedro Cabrita Reis, and of the winners of the first edition of the Lions Building Art Award, who are exhibiting here the various competing works.
In this journey, we sought to promote a meeting of cultures, which, through their art works, reveal artistic paths of an Iberian dimension. And it is a privilege to be able to count on the Foundation Banco Santander for this initiative.
Our acknowledgment to all those who accepted this challenge and made this enriching project possible, which we are proud to present.
